Football and a fun recipe for a holiday cookout

I love a three-day weekend! Ours started with an exciting win for the Conway Wampus Cats. Jake is a senior and plays football for the Cats. Our season is off to an exciting start with a double overtime win last Friday and a come from behind win this Friday. Both games were intense and fun! What is it about football that thrills my heart? I just love the game!

Of course, my love for this season has a lot to do with the people who are playing. I have watched these boys grow up together for several years. I know they are creating lifelong memories and it thrills my heart!

Holiday weekends are great for grilling out with friends. Last night we spent the evening with friends from church. We have lived in Conway for twenty years (I can't believe that!) and we have never lived in the same town as our family. As a result, our church family has become like family to us.

I made an easy blackberry cobbler for dessert, and I want to share the recipe with you. I promise this three ingredient dessert is worth putting in your rotation!

Blackberries (or any kind of fruit)

1 stick of butter, soft but not melted

1 Oatmeal Cookie Mix (I use Betty Crocker)

Place berries in a dish and sprinkle sugar on top. Mix butter and cookie mix until crumbly. Pour cookie mix on top of the berries. Bake at 375 for 30ish minutes. Serve with ice cream!

Happy Labor day from my family to yours!
