As we enter a new decade, what is God doing in your heart? What vision is He stirring in your life?
These are just a few of the questions God is putting before me. My answer is clear. I want a move of God in and through my life--- nothing more and nothing less. I want to know Christ, the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His suffering, and the victory that is mine in and through Jesus!
Three words are shaping all that I do in this new decade, year, and day! I want to simplify, clarify, and move on! Life can be hard and complicated. The factors that impact us are endless. We make mistakes, others around us make mistakes, our focus shifts off of Jesus, we get busy, we say "yes" before we stop and pray, we desire the things of this world over the things of God, and we cave to the expectations of others or ourselves. Honestly, the journey can be long and complicated. So, what can we do in 2020 and beyond?
1. Simplify Your Life!
What are the time wasters in your life? What is taking your focus off of Jesus? Be bold to identify and eliminate distractions. As you do, margin will be created that can be leveraged for God's Kingdom work. To simplify means to make something easier to do or understand. In this new season, be bold to follow God in complete obedience by removing things that do not produce a godly outcome. (Sometimes we have to remove "good" things so we can get to the "great" things God has for us!) Sweet friend, freedom is on the other side of your obedience!
2. Clarify Your Purpose!
Does your life proclaim a single message of victory in Jesus? Is there anything causing you or others to wonder what your time on earth is really all about? It's exciting to know that we can realign our vision and focus with the Gospel message. To clarify means to make less confusing. When we understand our purpose in life which is to know God and make Him known, we have a clear goal to strive for each day.
3. Move on with the things of God!
As you move into a new decade, year, and day, what is God asking you to do? What is the step of obedience He is calling you to take? Once you know... move on with the things of God! For me, the call to "Move On" is best seen in Exodus 13 and 14. The children of Israel are in a tight spot as God led them to encamp by the Red Sea. The "move on" step they were called to take led them straight through parted waters. Obedience is not always easy, in fact, it can be down right scary, but it's always worth it in the end. What is God calling you to do in this new season of life? Don't waste time doing anything else. Walk through your Red Sea moment in complete obedience and faith!
